  The results of the structured, complaint-specific patient history questionnaire are precisely summarized in a medical report-like format—without any interpretation or filtering of the patient’s input. Information provided in other languages is shown in German. (Currently only German translation of the summary is available; English is in development and will be available shortly.)

  At the end of the questionnaire, simply import the result into your practice management system (PMS) using a QR code (see the relevant FAQ for details). This way, the text is immediately available in the consultation room for the patient discussion. Alternatively you can review the summary directly on the tablet with the app. From there, you can print it or save it as a PDF file.

  Yes, easily—without requiring a special interface or a specific PMS. At the end of the anamnesis, the patient presents the result as a QR code on his mobile or on your tablet at reception. You can scan the code using a standard barcode scanner (in the same way as in Germany with the electronic medication plan, eMP).

  Simply place the text input cursor in the corresponding field of the patient record and scan the code. Since the scanner simulates keyboard input, integration is possible with any PMS.

  The only requirement is that the scanner supports the DataMatrix format — the same format used by the QR code of the electronic medication plan. Therefore, make sure that the product description explicitly lists DataMatrix as a supported format.

  A specific example for comparison is the NetumScan NSL5, which we have used ourselves for testing purposes. Scanners like this can be found online starting at around €35.

  In this case, you need to change the output format of your scanner. Many devices are set to the ASCII standard for the international market, which represents the US-american keyboard layout QWERTY. It does not know German umlauts and swaps Y and Z.

  In the scanner’s manual, you will find a barcode or QR code for this purpose. Scan this code once to switch the format. A beep will confirm that the scan was successful. The corresponding setting is usually called “Keyboard Language” or “Keyboard Layout.”

  The app is designed to be intuitive. The initial language selection ensures that all elements are displayed in the chosen language.

  If difficulties arise, you can temporarily switch to “Show in German” via the menu (three horizontal bars icon in the title bar). This allows you to better understand the current process and then switch back to the selected language.

  If the tablet is returned with the questionnaire not yet completed, you can retrieve the “Synopsis” from the menu and cancel the process. Since incomplete information is not suitable for the patient record, the QR code for PMS import will be skipped—this is indicated in the summary. In this case, start a new session using “New Case ID.”
